Pomfort PaintGrade Plugin for Aperture offers an innovative approach to color correction of your photos and graphics. Pomfort PaintGrade gets rid of the usual slew of sliders and controls that are difficult to understand and are interacting in complex ways. With Pomfort PaintGrade the color correction is as simple as painting directly on the image.

Known tools for special effects
Pomfort PaintGrade is made to enhance your already balanced image. To emphasize
certain parts of the image by "painting" on the colors of the image, Pomfort PaintGrade offers the common tools "Brightness", "Saturation" and "Contrast". An additional tool called "Target Color" lets you adjust the stroked colors smoothly to the selected Target Color. The effects are not applied to the entire image, but only to the "color neighborhoods" you're painting on.
Dynamic mattes
How is this achieved? The new approach of color correction can be easiest understood if you look at the color space of your photo. The color correction is done by manipulating this color space internally with the genuine PaintGrade algorithms that smooth and soften all
manipulations within the color space. This avoids jumps in colors, hard borders or color clipping much better than any conventional method.
The result is dynamic color keying with interactive modifications of the keyed area. This has the benefit that there is no need for mattes any more, the color keyer makes perfect mattes for you - as you do a stroke over the different colors of the image.
Stored looks
In order to reuse a certain look created with Pomfort PaintGrade on other pictures, you can store these looks and give them a name and rating.
With these looks, you have your collected style of modifying photos just one double-click away.
Locked colors
To avoid that the entire image is manipulated by one paint stroke, you can lock colors and color areas, so that they aren't affected by any manipulation.
Ok, there are sliders, too...
How much of the similar colors within the color space will be influenced at the same time can be controlled via the slider "Color Range". The slider "Strength" controls how quick the color will be changed during the application of the color correction.
Both parameters can also be controlled by a pressure sensitive tablet like the ones from Wacom.
