ARRICUBE Creator

  ARRI color management for film workflows matches color spaces of print film, displays, projectors and film recorders based on 3D lookup tables (LUTs).

  The ARRICUBE Creator application is build upon the existing ARRICUBE color management and lets the users create custom 3D LUTs for their individual workflow and postproduction tools. The LUTs are the output of collection of complex mathematical algorithms, that take display profile‚ and film stock characterizations as input. The color spaces of display and film get mapped and converted into each other, depending on the selected LUT type, workflow and additional parameters.

  Display profiles can be created within the software using an attached colorimeter from X-Rite. An additional calibration mode supports the user by maintaining accuracy of the color representation of a display or projector.

  In this project I worked in close collaboration with color scientists at ARRI for adopting the color management algorithms. The application design, user interface and interaction design as well as software architecture and development was done by me.
 

ARRIQCP (ARRI Quality Control Player)

  The ARRIQCP consists of a hardware component for media management and playback and a remote control application for ingest, analysis, testing, show assembling and playback control.

  I worked in the early stages of this project on the user interface and interaction design for the control application and did consulting for development and architecture of component interaction. I also designed ARRIQCP's customized Linux look-and feel.

  ARRIQCP has been developed in a distributed process between partners in Germany and California.
