Automation
In the following workflow we will show how to export multiple renders from Silverstack to Cinemator and create an Automator™ workflow merging the resulting movie files.
Let's start with specifying rendering options in Pomfort Silverstack. Navigate to Silverstack's compress panel through the tab view at the bottom of the Silverstack window. Select one of the rendering presets from the drop-down list or assemble your custom preset by modifying an existing one.
When you're done with your adjustments click the 'Submit...' button and select the 'Add to pending jobs in Cinemator' option in the submit dialog.
Cinemator groups the submitted renders in a batch named after the Silverstack workspace containing the sequences and adds them to the 'Pending Jobs'. Renders in the 'Pending Jobs' are not started until you drag them to the 'Active Jobs'. This gives us the possibility to add an Automator™ workflow to the newly created batch.
Let's continue with creating our workflow in Automator™. In this example we'll use the Automator actions that come with Cinemator and the Pomfort Productivity Bundle. You can find any of these actions in the 'Pomfort Cinemator' group in the Library list.
The first action gets the renders of the current batch. When executed from within Cinemator this action will tell our script it's own position in the rendering queue.
The second action gets the output files of the renders passed in from the previous action.
The real magic happens in the third action which merges all movies passed into it and puts the output to the specified path. Finally, save the workflow.
Add the workflow to the new batch and drag the batch to the 'Active jobs'. This will automatically start the renders and the workflow subsequently. The result is a movie containing both image sequences and a workflow you can use in Cinemator again and again.
